Christmas Morning

Christmas morning at our house is never without a few bumps, made purposely of course. This year was no exception. The kids had been wasting alot food over the past little while so we had threatened them that all they were getting for Christmas was food. Shay would be getting milk and cereal, because that is what she wasted alot of. For Chelli it was salsa and cottage cheese. Korven was going to get a case of soap, with the way he takes baths he goes through half a bar a day (no joke!). Korven had even skipped a day here and there taking a bath and finally told me it was because he didn't want soap for Christmas. Ahhh, so they do listen once and awhile.

Their wish lists this year were pretty simple, Shay wanted an electric scooter, Chelli wanted scrapbook stuff, and Korven wanted a new bike (he took a hammer to his last one trying to fix the chain). Korven had been riding the neighbor girls pink princess bike and his dad told him he would get one of those for Christmas and Korven said that was ok. We went into Toys "R us with the kids last month and Korven was riding a pink princess bike again, so his dad told him he would get him one for Christmas, Korven said that was ok again.

So, us being the nice kind hearted parents that we are decided to play a few jokes Christmas morning. We bought a pink princess bike, a tiny scrapbook kit and a foot powered scooter. We wrapped these along with some food items and put them under the tree. They were all disappointed in their gifts, but Korven was the only one who wasn't afraid to hide it. As you can see by the picture. It kindof made me feel bad, but only for a second of course ;). Santa has left a letter in the tree which told them how happy he was for all the good things they had done this year and it also chewed them out for all the food they had wasted (can't let a good teaching moment go by). At the end of the letter it mentioned he had to leave some things in the babies room and so it was a mad dash down the hall. Dad of course wouldn't let them get by him in the hallway without a fight. Needless to say they all had smiles on their faces 15 minutes later. A big change from what they had on their faces moments before. We'll have to see if this experience has changed any of their eating habits.

We enjoyed all of our family Christmas parties. Korven even lost his first tooth while we were in S.L.C. for the VanLeuven party. We rode trax to the temple and Chelli thought it was a smelly experience. And a special thank you for the blankets that were made. Korven especially loves his with the frogs, because he's going frog hunting the next time he goes golfing with his dad, and the blanket reminds him of that every time he uses it. Of course Shay loves her too, she may actually retire her yellow blanket that she sleeps with every night.

So funny. I wanted to do something like that to my kids but can't ever think of a darn thing.
